(TRIVIA) Busy stations which hardly anybody walks to

Try parking in either Crewe car parks midweek for your answer! 1779876404 It has a huge car park and attracts passengers for Liverpool from all over mid/west Cheshire and further afield. Six trains a hour and much cheaper than driving through the tunnel and being ripped off for parking.

    Why I avoid e-tickets

I recently went down to a footie match in London that didn’t finish until after 7pm and with no viable way to get home same day due to West Coast track closures. £200 hotel in London or a BoJ £50 Premier Inn in Wycombe was a no-brainer.

Australia: Stark warning about "Journey Beyond" train operator

Yes but the reimbursement was from Trailfinders not JB, hence my recommendation to fold the trip into a package. 1774130627 Of course it maybe that a large travel company such as Trailfinders has sufficient leverage over JB to secure a refund whatever their attitude to Joe Public might be. Or...

Australia: Stark warning about "Journey Beyond" train operator

We were booked to travel Adelaide - Sydney on Monday 23rd February, the original washout journey. Have to say JB were reasonably pro-active in informing us, with an e-mail and prompt follow-up call. By which time I had booked flights to Sydney and a hotel for two nights. Our itinerary was booked...

Australia / New Zealand - Any upcoming changes?

Some great advice here. My own experiences for what it’s worth over the last three and a bit years visiting from the UK. Perth. Fremantle to Perth suburban line. A bit meh. Melbourne. Worth visiting for the fantastic tram network alone. Did the Bendigo and Ballarat lines, both interesting and...

Wrexham, Shropshire & Midlands Railway updates

Would involve a new bridge to replace the one on the A483, which was why the line was singled in the first place AIUI. So unlikely..

'Drawing up' - assuming this is no longer practiced, when was the last train to 'draw up'?

The Ghan is split in two at Adelaide and loaded separately to enable embarkation and has to draw up certainly at Alice Springs due to the length of the train. I’ll be checking out the Indian Pacific manoeuvres in February!

    Edinburgh Park Station

Useful facility allied to the Premier Inn - I often stay there & commute in to Edinburgh. Mid you I always use the Scotrail app!

Countries with the fewest / no locomotive-hauled passenger services

I'm suggesting Australia. Last VR service about to become all DMU hauled and I'm not aware of any other in NSW, VIC or WA. Of course the Journey Beyond tourist trains are loco hauled. In fact I'm booked on the Indian Pacific in February!
