Tram operator sued over e-scooter rider death at Waddon Marsh West footpath crossing

While I have sympathy for the family why are things like this always someone elses fault? Honestly this really needs to stop in this country. People need to start taking personal responsibility for their actions.

Tyne & Wear Metro Fleet Replacement: Awarded to Stadler

Things you haven’t heard of =/= things other people haven’t heard of.

Tyne & Wear Metro Fleet Replacement: Awarded to Stadler

Just to your last point that is more about the travelling public in the UK. Those kind of defensive strategies wouldn’t fly in other countries such as Japan. They just wouldn’t, regardless of seat size.

New Tyne and Wear Metro trains withdrawn due to air conditioning issue as water pours into carriage

It may not have been great but at least these problems have been noticed. Metro unlike Merseyrail cannot go back to old stock, I presume that’s why the rollout has been purposely slow to try to give as much time as possible to finding issues like these.

Tyne & Wear Metro Fleet Replacement: Awarded to Stadler

Detraining during a power cycle just makes more sense. It takes out the passenger unknown, and the main point is that when that train is shutdown you have absolutely no idea what is going on, in terms of door handles being pulled etc. It takes that variable out completely, and means the driver...

Tyne & Wear Metro Fleet Replacement: Awarded to Stadler

While I agree there is less to hold on to it’s still possible. If I remember rightly the handheld rail above is actually away from the door area where bikes and prams go.

Tyne & Wear Metro Fleet Replacement: Awarded to Stadler

And that’s a culture thing more than anything. There’s grab rails all the way down the old fleet but it doesn’t mean people move down the aisles. People still try like mad to congregate around the doors.

Tyne & Wear Metro Fleet Replacement: Awarded to Stadler

It’s more the layout than less seats. Plus the wall to wall cameras. My whole point is is that we have this brand new fleet, coming in imminently and yet all some people can say is ‘I still don’t like the seats.’ It’s ridiculous.

Tyne & Wear Metro Fleet Replacement: Awarded to Stadler

I hate that every post concerning people’s thoughts about the new fleet has to include something about the new seating. It’s 12 less seats, that’s it. 12. In short. Get over it. The new arrangement suits the smaller type journeys, has the company fall in line with other systems around the...

Metrocar updates and withdrawals - Tyne & Wear Metro

What I find more puzzling about said poster is their ability to present consistently and confidently like they have a clue and are speaking facts which in actuality they have no idea about. Done a number of times on this thread alone.

Tyne & Wear Metro Fleet Replacement: Awarded to Stadler

Partially correct. They will still need to go through the L&D learning course like everyone else.

Tyne & Wear Metro Fleet Replacement: Awarded to Stadler

One thing that is worth noting is now the rest of the depot has opened, there is theoretically a lot more free space to shunt about, so while the maintenance roads are still a pain to get trains in and out of, it shouldn’t be a case of having to constantly shunt trains about to get them in there.

Tyne & Wear Metro Fleet Replacement: Awarded to Stadler

It was mass public, more than 23000 people took part, mostly done online I believe due to covid. The base point here is that there are only slightly less seats than there are now, and quite frankly it seems rather ridiculous to have this fantastic new fleet, when it does eventually come into...

Tyne & Wear Metro Fleet Replacement: Awarded to Stadler

Honestly give it a rest about the seating layout. There are literally a few less seats, and what it does enable is better use of the space during peak times, when inevitably more passengers should use the service due to increased reliability. During day there will be more than enough seats. No...

Role of on board staff on Merseyrail trains and associated issues (e.g. ticket selling/checking)

Same should apply to the Tyne and Wear Metro then. However for both instances I’d assume money would be a massive sticking point. Levelling up remember…
