I can only speak about the Manchester - Nottingham section, which if the service is to be split/terminated at Nottingham would benefit from either strengthening the 2x158 sets by an extra coach or replacing the 158s with the 222 5coach sets, one released from MML duties.
As I understand the situation, there is no allocated home for the 222s, as and when the 810s arrive with EMR. These might offer what's needed for the Nottm-Liverpool journeys and already 5 cars. EMR is used to the vehicles maintainence and would offer a slightly quicker journey.

Not a surprising move, as they have run inter-airport trains in the past. The 'Donald Duck' EMUs and loco hauled have been bedecked in Lufthansa livery. Writhe growing numbers a high speed lines it makes sense to offer 'airline' through tickets and connections where trains can improve on time.
A 20/3 in DRS colours is my latest. Runs very well, but I find the sound file doesn't seem quite right. The 20s have a very distinctive tick over, which somehow seems more muffled.
I think the Robin Hood line argument applies equally to the Derwent Valley line, though I suspect passengers on both routes are enjoying more comfortable journeys.
