Bus routes that have increased in frequency in recent years

A quick look through past editions of 'Bus Times' show significant increases on most Brighton&Hove routes especially the 1/1A, 5/5A/5B, 6, 7,25, 27 and 49. As well as increased frequency during the day, the peak hours have been stretched so that higher frequencies also operate during the evening...

    Goings on at Preston Park

I was wondering about this as well. Two thoughts; it looks like they are clearing a track bed so could it be used for extra stabling from the Brighton end associated with the Thameslink programme. Or, are they starting some step free access to the station and installing ticket gates? At the...

The end of the Mile and Chain

Just to add something to those who remember rods, poles and perches, an acre is a chain by a furlong.

    Arriva North East

Have you thought about writing directly to Head Office: Arriva plc Admiral Way Doxford International Business Park Sunderland SR3 3XP UK Tel: +44 (0)191 520 4000 If it's bad, address it to the MD and write, rather then type, your letter as a handwritten letter tends to grab peoples attention...

    Municipals Take First and Second

Brighton & Hove have automated bus stop announcements on their Volvos, usually seen on routes 1, 6, 7 and coming in on the 49 route. They also announce stops if these buses are running on other routes

    Level Crossing down times

As a bus driver I have been held 16 minutes at Portslade Station for 4 trains to go through and 13 minutes at Shoreham Station for 3 trains to go through. It is quite frustrarting when some of that time is waiting for trains to enter and stop at the station before they even go through the crossing.

    Forgotten post-Beeching station closures

Do all the stations on the local line between Birmingham Snow Hill and Wolverhampton Low Level fall into this category? I think they closed around 1972, or are they a very late Beeching closure?

    Grade listed Signalboxes

Also, probably not quite what you imagine, but the concrete box at New Street Station is also Grade II listed

    Grade listed Signalboxes

Severn Bridge Junction box at Shrewsbury is Grade 2 listed. Would Oakham be listed?

    Unique railway stations

How about Stourbridge Town for (a) end of the shortest branch line in the UK and (b) only station with a direct service to just one other station. Also does Liverpool Lime Street have the most TOCs serving it: EMT, TPE, ATW, LM, VR, MR, Northern?

    Stamford

Coleshill Parkway is operated by LM but only XC trains call there. The same applies to Water Orton.
