    European Sleeper experience

does anybody know why ES have such all over the place carriage placement that seems too be different every trip? you would expect a simple order of sleeper-couchette-seated but instead they seem to sandwich the sleeper carriages between couchette on both sides and sometimes a seated coach...

    Caledonian Sleeper to mainland Europe?

did a NoL set ever reach Scotland?, they did the white rose but not sure if they ever got further than the midlands? a NoL would make more sense as they are shorter and have been in storage since 2014

    Caledonian Sleeper to mainland Europe?

dont think you even need 300km/h, in theory a 250km/h Stadler SMILE made too UK specs could work for way less that or a tack on order too the HS2 fleet

Avanti Website and Email showing different times

ah yea, was using the ticket on my apple wallet that doesn’t store that the pdf says 15:53 and that tracks with other sources, just strange that the Email gets it wrong as a UTC/BST issue would display as 14:53 instead

    Caledonian Sleeper to mainland Europe?

what i could see way more as an option (assume you had spare mark 5 carriages and added KVB too the class 92) would be a corridor train that rather than going all the way too Europe, ended up at the international side of St Pancras for direct connections too Eurostar/Virgin/etc reduces scope...

    Caledonian Sleeper to mainland Europe?

lack of KVB also makes the French side tricky as well as nowhere in TVM land that can be used for a loco swap (i believe idea was for some AWS at Calais-Ville to enable that to be used) if being realistic (as much as you can with such a idea), locomotive + carriages would not be the best option...

Proposed new Channel Tunnel services discussion

this is kind of my point why are people talking of multi million pound HS1-HS2 links for a service that would never recover that money look at whats possible for cheap now with existing infrastructure not what needs total rebuilds of what we already have too work keep it simple, 1 maybe 2 200m...

Proposed new Channel Tunnel services discussion

even assuming a total of 5:00-5:30 hr i don’t that’s much of a problem especially for an initial service

Proposed new Channel Tunnel services discussion

as every North of London Service would need too use Classic compatible stock for anything bar Birmingham Services, do you really need too use HS2? London - Paris is already only 2:20hr , using the WCML and the existing HS1 link only adds 2hr more for Manchester and even then that’s the same as...

    Caledonian Sleeper

not a full 16 as the carriages alone are 2m too long (353m platform vs 355m carriages) and once you factor in the 2 class 92's its too long but a 14 carriage reduce length consist would just about fit

Introduction of European Entry-Exit Scheme (EES)

website states so don’t think they can avoid compensation but weirdly they show the train arriving into London 15 minutes early, assuming that’s got to be a time conversion typo
