It is indeed faster going Manchester to Coventry via Rugby, unfortunately not a valid route and splitting doubles the price.
I made this journey a couple of weeks ago (not via Rugby), the crawl between Wolverhampton and Coventry is soul destroying. On the way back north it was 4 carriages and...
Hang on then, going back to my original question, would Burnage to Tutbury be valid via Crewe by valid as its within 3 miles of the shortest route so it doesn't matter about the fares check?
Oh well, I thought I had taken account of the airport spur. There's not much in it either way.
I meant no itinerary on a through Mauldeth Road - Tutbury ticket, which would under cut the Wilmslow - Tutbury ticket.
I planning a journey from Mauldeth Road to Tutbury and was hoping to go via Crewe (rather than Piccadilly and Stoke) so as to change once rather than twice. However no ticketing site will offer me a itinerary going via Crewe. Using RailMiles Mileage Engine website I calculate that via Crewe is...
Well, yes. What was/is needed is an off-peak single, if you only needed to go one way £3.50 was a complete ripoff.
This also has the side-effect of getting around the ridiculous evening peak.
Northern have just started selling advances from my local (Mauldeth Road) to Piccadilly within the last few days! Almost all trains now have advances for £1.70, even for trains the same day. Levenshulme to Piccadilly now the same also. Maybe to fight back against the £2 capped bus fare?
It needs binning. At my local station there are no off-peak trains into the city between the 15:13 and the 19:13, totally puts me off hoping on the train after working to go into town. Perhaps it makes sense going with the commuter-flow, but between those times they're carting fresh air into the...
Fairly recently, when they switched to a new (and now also terrible) iOS app they appear to have stopped offering etickets. I used to use the old app for travelling from Wilmslow to Hereford using etickets, but now only get offered paper tickets or m-tickets, so I now just use the Avanti app...
I've just repurchased journey A, and the collection reference was blank again in the email! Luckily I took a screenshot of the confirmation of payment screen which included it.
Now looking at my account both journey A's are showing up in my booking history even though the first wasn't there...
This has just happened to me using the Chiltern site. Journey A and journey B on one order, a booking reference for journey B on the email but for journey A the space is just blank, money for both gone out of my account.
I went to the ticket office at Moor Street to sort it out and they didn't...
