    North Filton / Brabazon

Already mentioned in the December 2026 timetable change thread but for those here. https://www.realtimetrains.co.uk/search/detailed/gb-nr:BRI/to/gb-nr:ASD/2026-12-14/0200-0159?stp=WVS&show=all&order=wtt From the timetable change Realtimetrains shows the current Filton Abbey Wood terminators...

    December 2026 Timetable Change

I was looking through SWR on RTT and found some additional trains and changes I haven't seen mentioned. Additional train (notes) SX 2P49 16:15 Waterloo to Haslemere (Forms 2P60 starts Haslemere vice Fareham) (2P58 starts Fareham vice Portsmouth & Southsea) SX 1G26 09:24 Petersfield to...

    SWR DMU issues

Stagecoach left almost 10 years ago which is probably a bigger issue, the trains aren't getting any younger and parts will only get more difficult to find. It's not helped by being 1 unit down since the Salisbury crash in 2021.

Makes sense considering the ECS already goes via Hampton Court to get to Surbiton.

    December 2026 Timetable Change

SWR now visible in RTT. Not much has changed but I have noticed this. 17:20 no longer extends to Southampton, terminates Basingstoke. 17:45 additional to Southampton first stop Farnborough. 17:45 to Portsmouth & Southsea retimed to 17:50 and goes via Woking vice Cobham. 17:50 to Basingstoke...

    December 2026 Timetable Change

Generally from Penkridge to Birmingham the ex-Liverpool departs 6 minutes later, overtakes and arrives 3 minutes earlier than the ex-Crewe, so effectively 1tph in this direction. From Birmingham the gaps between departures are 18/42 mins which isn't so bad, with an even 30 min service from...

Liverpool to Llandudno TfW 2 car trains on bank holiday

As with all discussion about class 197 formations, surely it must be caveated that until the class 398 tram-trains in Cardiff are in operation, there are 197s being used on services they are not intended for in the long term. The situation in North Wales can't really be judged until the rolling...

Transpennine Route Upgrade and Electrification updates

Looks like the line reopened on time after the latest blockade, well done to all involved on a successful operation! Now the slow lines are in place we should start to see the new fast lines emerging soon.

Transpennine Route Upgrade and Electrification updates

I guess the weekday closures will see the removal of the Batley underpass and infamous bump?

Transpennine Route Upgrade and Electrification updates

You're not the first person to observe this about construction workers, I would suggest googling this question to read interesting answers from construction workers which may help clear some things up. I don't believe private contractors would employ any more people than is necessary, wouldn't...

Class 810 for East Midlands Railway Construction/Introduction Updates

In other carriages it is used for bike space, compact toilets and equipment cupboards so I wouldn't say it's wasted space.

Class 701 'Aventra' trains for South Western Railway: progress updates

Yes it looks like the interworking evens out the turnaround times at Waterloo, otherwise Reading trains would only have 13 mins and Weybridge trains 25 mins. Now it's 21 mins for Weybridge forming Reading and 17 mins for Reading forming Weybridge.
