    How regular was these services in the late 1970s/Early 1980s before electrification to Peterborough. I'm guessing nowhere near as the service level before Covid 19?

    Made very good business sense for Prism/WAGN offering a cheaper fare for a slightly longer journey time to KX. Especially to 160,000 potential new customers.

    Certainly operated Hitchin - Peterborough during the week every 2 hours. Used to travel Peterborough to Biggleswade on it in regularly back in 1984.

    The fares were the same between Peterborough and London whether you travelled on a 317 or a Class 91. This soon changed after Privatisation.

    The arguement put forward by BR just prior to the start of the Great Northern service extension to Peterborough in 1987 was that if Peterborough got NSE fares/railcard to go with the NSE trains then Grantham passengers would want NSE fares/railcard as well. Bizarre logic as to my knowledge...

    Class 700 at new 700 sidings north of Peterborough about 5.50pm. Didnt get number as I was driving. Looked to giving new carriage wash a trial run.:lol:
