I think what doesn't help is, Eccles is the last station before Victoria and Patricroft the second last, in the morning rush hours the trains are rammed when they arrive at those stations, not particularly encouraging.
But I also accept that situation is the same for most, if not all...
My nearest station is Patricroft and Eccles my second nearest, but I think with every body being encouraged to be green and use public transport, I don't think closure of rail stations is politically viable these days. (Maybe more in hope than actual belief!!)

My nearest station is Patricroft, can I ask a simple question, does anyone know when I'll be able to catch an electric train to Manchester or Liverpool?
Thanks,
Pete.
I've recently started a new job in the centre of Manchester, and every day (well, Mon to Fri) at 1630, and very punctual too, I see a container train cross the viaduct from Deansgate and go through platform 13 at Piccadilly.
I'm guessing it emanates at Trafford Park containerbase, but where...
I was stood on Patricroft station this morning and could see three different types of gantries. What's the difference between the types, I just thought they were steel girders welded/bolted together to hold up the wires?
