Unfortunately, I had too many bad experiences with Connex to remember slammers that fondly, but the Lymington ones were quite nice now that they had been refurbished. What a shame those ones couldn't stay.
This was obviously going to be a duel between the sea wall and S&C. Generally, I prefer the Dawlish line, and the north downs line is interesting too. The 'Wessex' mainline is nice, especially in one of the trains built for that line...
Pacers are probably only banned because some londoners who wanted them are scared of getting on and then being mauled by angry passengers facing delays, back ache, wobbles etc.
I don't see why everyone is moaning about coaches so much. Obviously, i'd rather take the train but on shorter journeys that aren't connected to the network it can be much nicer than driving.

I dont think that European companies will really bother with this idea like some people are saying. It seems much more likely to have strong American railroads investing-if companies like First or Arriva were going to try and expand to America, I think they would have already done so. After all...
