This seems to be continuing. Looks like about 80% of Mildmay line trains are cancelled today due to "shortage of staff". Looks to have spiralled since First took over. Coincidence? TfL mismanagement? Having built up a strong ridership and image it seems the Overground is now unfit.
Does indeed appear to be fixed, thanks. Therefore in my opinion Trainsplit is the most effective for checking train times at any station (and, no doubt, buying tickets); and the best replacement for old-NR. [As opposed to all movements for enthusiasts, at which RTT and LiveTrainTimes excel.]...
Well, there's a thing. https://tiger.worldline.global/home is a real revelation. What a brilliant presentation. Exemplary. Great view(/options), optimum use of (small-)screen real estate.
However.
1 A lot of clicks to get to your target screen†. My preference is "CIS Summary". Decent...
Likewise, couldn't beat the old NR app for instant view of rail health and view of favourite stations with indications of disruption, simple presentation optimal for smartphones, and good navigation. RIP indeed, sorely missed.
As for the others, the RTT app is good on the face of it but...
Hi Jon, please expedite an Android version, I'd be tearing my hair out over the execrable new NR crapp if I had any! I'll gladly pay for similar functionality (not bothered about buying tickets on this app). Thanks, Paul
Not so long ago we had the Northern line, Northern City line (Moorgate-Finsbury Park), Northern line City branch, as well as North London line. Not in the least confusing. Now we'll have to say "Mildmay line (formerly NLL)", Windmill line (formerly ELL)", Suffrage line (formerly Goblin) etc when...
By sheer coincidence I visited Old Street last week to admire the improvements, and was mightily impressed by (a) the incredibly long and winding walk to the Great Northern platforms, with the look and feel, and smell, of one of the LT Museum disused station tours; and (b) the incredibly long...
Those graffiti vandal bastards need to be rounded up, put in stocks and sprayed heavily with their paint, including down their throats. And liberally vandalised with their window scratchers.
I'm sure all the nurses, teachers, hospitality workers and general public who won't be able to get to work or their holidays will completely understand the plight, terrible pay and conditions that these poor train drivers are forced to endure, and will support them to the hilt. I know I do.
This is a critical point. PSVAR focuses on wheelchair users with zero or scant regard to those with less impaired but still debilitating mobility, who can walk but painfully, including large numbers of elderly people who rely on public transport. Reducing numbers of seats on buses doesn't help...
The government has committed £96billion to rail. That's one hell of an investment. Crying shame if the morons running and kowtowing to the unions wreck the whole premise by killing off the custom, and quite a lot of the hospitality sector dependent on it.
And of course the gov wants to make...
The unions are killing off the railways, committing industrial suicide. The travelling public has lost faith in rail and lost confidence in its ability to provide a reliable service. Why should government continue to invest in an industry whose workforce simply refuse to work? HS2, East West...
The points would also be the point. Each of the multiple sets of points in the Camden Town layout is switched after every train, resulting in enormous wear and tear and maintenance bills, the most intense on the network. My understanding is that each set is manually checked and attended to if...
As a member of the general public who enjoys travelling by train I must say I now haven't a clue who is striking and when, "working to rule" or generally destroying what at normal times is quite a functional transport system. I love the language of "being compelled to take this action", as...
Alas these seem to be spending inordinate amounts of time hanging about in stations - a full minute is twice as long as needed, anywhere; and also at Westbourne sidings and elsewhere for "pathing" and "passing trains". Eastbound from Heathrow waits 3 minutes at Westbourne, and from Reading a...
