    Dilemma regarding laser eye surgery

Thank you . I'm overdue an eyetest so will ask the question when i have my eyes tested. I will turn 50 next year and i'm unhappy in my demanding job after 16 years with the same company. I've always had a massive interest in railways from an early age and need to find a job on the railways to...

    Dilemma regarding laser eye surgery

I'm assuming that as i wear glasses and can't see without them due to being shortsighted, i would be wasting my time even trying to apply for a driving position.

Fantasy thread: What would you do if money was no object...

Kirkby Stephen to Barnard Castle including replica bridges at Belah and Deepdale and a rebuild of Bowes station before it disapears altogether! They are working hard at Kirkby Stephen East so it would be nice to help them realise their dream.

R.I.P Leamside Line (in use from 1839 to 1991)

Surely removing the sleepers and the damage to the trackbed will massively increase the cost of reinstatement giving them the excuse that it will cost too much when 2019 comes and goes!

R.I.P Leamside Line (in use from 1839 to 1991)

So after many years...

20th January 2012 will be the 50th aniversary of the closure of the historic Stainmore Railway and i was wondering if anything was being organised to mark this as nothing seems forthcoming on their website. I will be working in Cumbria on this day so on my way back home via the A66 i will be...

    Stainmore 150

The old bridge had about four arches to pass through so i'm sure there must be one that is not obscured by a building that could be opened up. Steve Davies from the NRM did mention in his speech that the goal in heading east towards the summit would be to get as far as the west abutment of Belah...

    Stainmore 150

I was there too on saturday and rode the train for £1 just to be able to leave and return to Kirkby Stephen by train for the 1st time in 49 years was a great feeling. I spoke to an old lad about the stainmore line and he told me he used to be a driver based at Kirkby and as a fireman helped with...

    The Leamside line

Hi , just joined the forum today after being a site visitor for over a year. I used to photograph the diverted sunday traffic on this line (once travelling from Newcastle to Darlington via Penshaw pulled by a class 47 and the track felt very smooth) My favorite time was when they closed the East...
