I was under the impression that Grand Central WASN'T part of the TOC concessions agreement (although I used them to travel from Thirsk to Northallerton and the conductor didn't query our ticket). As part of the Abellio Group (I work for Greater Anglia) you should be able to use the card free on...
Exactly, and the whole point of the thread is exactly that - it's a perk that you don't get at Freightliner and a perk well worth having(wherever you live)! Given the salary, lack of travel perks and shift pattern I'm surprised Intermodal actually manage to attract non-safeguarded qualified...
Work for G.A. so I get free travel on their network as far as Peterborough and £42.37 from there Anytime Return (with the 75% off), something that unfortunately a newbie at a FOC wouldn't be entitled to. Ideal if you're a Northern Lights chaser!
Who said I read them ahead?? I agree they do slot together in places but some are ideal as a one subject matter read, such as PTS, shunting or the RS521 handbook. Oh and by the way, I obviously don't know better than the SWT trainers I merely expressed my own personal opinion and if people...
Personally I don't see how reading the rules in preparation for the course can do you any harm at all. We were advised that although hand-outs were given out always refer to the appropriate module of the rule book (which you can download for free on the RSSB website. I use my travelling time...
Congrats to your hubby Emily!! Wouldn't be surprised if it was Colchester as they are short of both Depot/Mainline there. If it's Colchester hope to meet him soon!:D
Hi, just to say the best of British to all of you who are awaiting the outcome of your D.M. interviews. I've just finished the traction module and now have 5 1/2 weeks in the Depot before I do my final assessments. I'll tell you this much - I have NEVER had a job where every morning without...
I am aware that SWT employed someone as a driver at the age of 58 so I would think that there is absolutely no reason why, all things considered (health etc) you couldn't work in most grades on the railway. GA took me on a few week prior to my 51st. Quality over age every time!:p
Not sure if this is any help to you but I failed a medical in 2008 but re-applied again last year as my condition had improved and got the job this year, so I suppose it depends what the condition is you have and how much the TOC considers it a problem.
Hi Michael83, maybe call them around February time if you've not heard anything in the meantime. It can always be rather vague and the situations change (sometimes, like in my case, quite dramatically). I think the main thing is to always be ready, you don't want to "switch off" believing the...
Don't quote me on this but I'm pretty sure that there will be a course in March. The reason behind this assumption is that I was speaking with one of the H.R. bods and was told that March was likely to be next and this would be the first time the new assessments would come into play. Also I...
I seriously would keep an eye on the website everyday and periodically call H.R. as I was told in March that the August course had been cancelled, the next one was in January and I've ended up on the October course! You've got to remember that they have hundreds apply so if you go off the radar...
Hi, I waited nearly a year between my structured interview & my DM interview & I was told that the next course was in January! Got through both the DM/medical & I'm on the October course. All this year I was never under the impression that there would be an October course so don't be surprised...
Mate, let me tell you something. I first applied at the age of 44 (2007) and after various rejections (Freightliner twice, GB Railfreight, London Midland) and a failure at NXEA), I finally got the green light this morning - and I was 50 late last year. Don't worry about your age - if your good...
