The entry to the possession began at Marple, so that is all the RTT will show. It did sit at Marple for a while awaiting clearance into the possession, and again at New Mills Central to cross over and work back over the newly relaid section of track.
37685 ran light engine to the start of the possession at Marple as 0Z37:

It ran inside the possession up New Mills Central before reversing to travel over the newly laid section and back to Marple, exiting the posession...
Plus, there aren't many current flows out of Dowlow/Hindlow/Hillhead that would want to go via Stockport. All bar the Ashburys traffic want to go towards Crewe, which would mean a reversal at Ash Bridge Junction or Longsight Loop.
If there was a chord at Hazel Grove High Level Junction so...
Thanks to all for your advice. It seems like tomorrow is going to be a bit of a free-for-all, particularly with the forecasted weather, so I'll probably head for the 0844 that does stop at Nuneaton and give myself a bit of extra time.
Before next week's strikes were announced I purchased tickets to travel with Avanti from Stockport to Euston on 6 April. The outward journey had a split at Nuneaton.
This train has subsequently been cancelled, so I sought the advice of Avanti's twitter team as to what my options were. I was...
I'm looking for some advice as to the quickest route from West Sutton (or surrounding area) to Euston on 6 April. I'll be leaving after 17:00 (I'm watching Stockport play at Sutton United and the game is unlikely to be finished any earlier) in the hope of getting either the 18:13 to Stockport...
90001 top and tail 40013. The 90 comes off during the reversal at Bescot loop.
It'll be going the full length of the SVR, then heading off to Llandudno:

Apologies if this has been covered already, but I was on 390157 this morning for the first time post-refurb, from Manchester to Euston, and it felt like the phone signal and mobile data is now significantly worse than before? I know it has never been great on a 390, but even as we got south of...
I was chatting to a chap whilst photographing at Sawley yesterday who worked in the comms team at Avanti. Said the runs on Thursday were for shakedown purposes not intended to catch the public eye (the set is still waiting on a few finishing touches), but that was undermined slightly by the set...
I never got that from Virgin, but then again I didn't often find reason to complain about them (save for the talking toilets!), it was usually just delay repay. When i did complain they did take the time to respond, so perhaps I just got (un)lucky!
I'm not going to cut off my nose to spite my...
I recently complained to Avanti about their farcical handling of releasing advanced tickets for a weekend in November when I wanted to travel to London. I’d tweeted them a couple of times in September and October to ask when they were going to be released, they couldn’t tell me but advised I...
