    Yes, but receipts issued on Avantix and S&B TVMs (don't know about others) only show the amount paid, not what ticket was purchased. Some (many?) employers will want to see the ticket to make sure they aren't paying for a first class instead of a steerage.

    IME they recognise only recognise break-of-journeys for which they have been programmed, which usually means local commuter routes only. Even if the gate lets you out it might not let you back in, if you try to enter within the time delay which prevents the ticket being used twice.
