That page is useless, particularly earlier this week finding out which trains were running between Machynlleth and Shrewsbury with all the terminating short of Birmingham, cancellations, permanently delayed trains.
The old journey check was much better
If it's right at the limit, what would happen during late running or disruption? Would they swap out at Hereford or Newport? Or carry on through?
I realise it will probably depend a lot on how much delay and each scenario would be different, but out of interest anything you can add would be...
Were there not and are there not still Manchester to London via Birmingham Avanti trains because longsite stables more pendolinos overnight there and they replace cross country services to Birmingham
There's also a track defect between Pontrilas (where I currently am on 1W94) and Hereford at the moment so that will be causing issues with diagrams in addition to signalling problems earlier.
This is unusual, skipping goostrey and chelford is fairly common. I think it's because the turnarounds at Crewe on a Sunday morning are the minimum permitted and presumably they couldn't path it from Manchester with the stop at Holmes Chapel
I have had this coming back from Ely to Southampton where the XC bus to Stansted left Cambridge before the slightly delayed XC train arrived. The staff didn't seem to notice or care that it had left before the passengers for it had arrived!
Anyway I then went via Royston rather than waiting an...
Seems XC have pretty much abandoned Southampton this afternoon with majority of services turning at Birmingham or Reading due to shortage of train drivers.
Will make my journey back slightly more interesting
Given that there are a few partial cancellations at reading this evening on Bournemouth services because of a shortage of train drivers I'm not so sure.
It would be great if they could return to normal
I think you might have hit the nail on the head. Quite a few people I know get frustrated when they don't get tickets checked or barriers are open and if others experience that they are far more likely to chance it
