    Is the power left on when the track is not in use overnight? I'd expect a fair amount of power loss on a DC system whilst it was just sitting idle.

    Without checking, I would suspect there may be a lot of different gauges in use across Africa which would make such a proposition a little more difficult.

    The journey took just over 3hrs (which is under 7 hours :wink:) if wikipedia is to be trusted, giving an average of 317km/h or 198mph.
