A Lancaster Bomber flying parallel to my train a few hundred feet up is probably the best one (Battle of Britain Memorial Flight, Southport Airshow). I was once flashed by a woman as thanks for sounding the horn for her kid sat waving in his pram.
If you're on a spare turn how long in either direction they can move your start time to a running job. So if you're 0800 spare with a two hour move they could put you on an 0600 to 1000 start.
Had my interview for a qualified position at the end of March, and heard back the next day. I was watching the thread hoping that once the trainee recruitment process was complete things might pick up a bit of pace. I know these things always take a while though, so as you say, sit and wait.

Some TOCS don't use particular elements of the test. I got an enhanced pass applying for one TOC which didn't use the DFFT. When applying at my own TOC they said I'd have to take that one test; they then changed their minds and did away with the requirement for all applicants.
An ECS ended up in the sand drag last year or the year before; first service of the morning. Braking as normal and it just went out from under him; guard and driver both put the emergency in. They rebuilt the sand drag.
