    Cambridge OLE problem (13th Jan)

Sorry, I misremembered, it was about 1845 that we arrived at Cambridge, and about 1955 when we got into a taxi.

    Cambridge OLE problem (13th Jan)

We arrived at Cambridge shortly before 7 (edit: not 6, I misremembered) trying to get to London. Very soon after that they announced that they'd pay for onward taxis. Thankfully we were almost at the front of the queue - but it still took us an hour to get from the station entrance to a taxi...

Trivia: Longest possible journey entirely on 25kV without reversing?

If you're allowed to revisit a section of track you could do an infinitely long journey around Birmingham for example. Can't actually find any other examples - I presume there are some?

    T.P.S Rail?

TPS is mentioned in this article from 2014 about Mansfield - it's TanZo Passenger Services. "The new ticket office will be run on behalf of East Midlands Trains by TanZo Passenger Services (TPS Rail)"...

    Cryptic clues = station name

Is it Brunstane? (Brun meaning brown in French) If I'm right: This station is like a dress

    Cryptic clues = station name

I wondered about Saundersfoot - French and Saunders were a pair, but I don't know how barbecue sauce would fit.

    Could it be Ruislip?

You might have a Reddish South (i.e. lower part, the carpet) depending on the colour of the sauce...?

    Brandon (Suffolk)

I hope the existing building can be restored and incorporated into any refurbishment of the station. The flint facing of the building feels quite fitting for the area - lots of old Norfolk buildings are like this. You can even go down an ancient flint mine down the road at Grimes Graves.

Greater Anglia 2019 - Speculation and info

Any hints yet on whether timings between Cambridge and Norwich might be reduced with the new FLIRT trains? I gather there was some doubt as to whether they'd be allowed to run at the higher "Sprinter" speed limits currently available between Ely and Norwich - has this question been resolved now?

Fantasy: Given no limits, how would you modernise your line?

Ely to Norwich line: Grade-separate Ely North Junction Improve linespeed through the fens around Shippea Hill and Lakenheath to 100mph (OK I guess this only saves at most about 2 minutes...) Close level crossing at Browick Road in Wymondham (Often seem to have to slow down for this to clear...

Greater Anglia Class 755s (Regional Trains)

Is it known yet whether they'll be able to keep to existing timings on the Norwich-Cambridge route? Or even better, get back the minute or two lost when Cambridge North was added? (Don't get me wrong, I'm very glad Cambridge North exists!)

Is it time to reserve peak services for season ticket holders only?

I wonder how many non-season-ticket holders on peak time commuter services are there for leisure, as opposed to commuting without a season ticket (as previous poster suggests), company business travel or non-leisure personal travel (medical, legal, etc.)?

    Ely North Junction upgrade proposals

Is there the prospect of these works speeding up the timetabled journey times, as opposed to just increasing reliability of existing quoted journey times? Of particular interest to me are the services between Ely and Norwich. I have noticed from previous timetables that (even without counting...
