I’m looking at going in the Caledonian Sleeper with my missus, we’re both priv holders. Can I ask how we’d book please? When I go on the staff travel website it says unable to book priv rate on the Caledonian Sleeper online.
Does anybody happen to have a contact number for the GTR Talent Acquisition Team please?
It’s regarding having an application withdrawn for not doing a test that I hadn’t been sent.
I passed at National level 2 years back so still have a valid pass. I went for a Trainee Driver position with a TOC that required an enhanced pass and they allowed me to just do the VSE to make it enhanced. And even that they allowed me to do at home on my laptop.
A little heads up for anyone regarding my video interview experience.
I did it on my iPad as my laptop was such poor quality. Having recorded my first attempt at the first question I opted to play the recording as it was a short answer and I had 8 minutes left on the countdown.
Unfortunately...
Ah, so 3 minutes for the answer not 10?
Good if that’s so because I was wondering how I was going to talk for nearly 10 minutes to answer a question. That’s near a full blown presentation!
Thanks
I’ve seen that there are 3 questions and there are 10 minutes to answer each.
Without asking anybody to give too much away, can I ask, do you have any time to prepare an answer to each question or is the question asked and then straight into the ten minutes?
I was, yes. The Train Maintainer role did state just earlies and lates in the ad, thought it was potentially a typo as maintenance work is predominantly at night.
I’ve seen Great Northern are advertising for Train Maintainers at Hornsey and it’s saying the shifts are early and lates.
Can anyone tell me what the shift times are please as I need to see if it’s feasible to get there on public transport.
Thanks.
Agreed that some older locos were partially unsprung but there is nothing that is fully unsprung as was originally suggested (impossible by virtue of the fact it needs to be attached at some point to the bogie frame which itself is sprung)

I believe on a Voyager it’s referred to as a...
To my knowledge, and certainly on every form of traction I’ve worked on, traction motors are ‘sprung’ weight, as they’re mounted to the bogie frame which is itself ‘sprung’ bu the primary springs.
