Cheapest ticket advice - London to Kemble

Hi all, Just to clarify: I am less concerned about the Barking to Paddington route where I can pay PAYG oyster (where the difference between peak and off-peak is not great), but more concerned with the GWR leg of the journey. Obviously if a through journey from Barking to Kemble was cheaper, I...

Cheapest ticket advice - London to Kemble

Thank you. As this may be a journey I do maybe once or twice a week, I also looked at the new Flexi Season ticket offered by GWR but that seemed far too expensive (8 days travel during a 28 day period). I have tried to look at using a Network Railcard (or if I end up getting a London annual...

Cheapest ticket advice - London to Kemble

I appreciate all of your comments. So all that remains is to wait till tomorrow and see what these new advances etc are apparently to be issued. I must admit I am finding GWR expensive compared to other providers (eg Southern) who at least offer their £5 or £10 advance tickets. I hope GWR does...

Cheapest ticket advice - London to Kemble

I just went on to brfares website and put in BKG to Kemble, and it shows various Advance ticket prices including the lowest as below. So is this ticket actually available? Dead cheap compared to previously mentioned prices. Or are prices on brfares just theoretical and not actually always...

Cheapest ticket advice - London to Kemble

Hadders - Well, I live in London so I was planning to get the tube to Paddington, and pay on a PAYG Oyster fare. Nunners - how would I go about splitting the ticket and choose which legs to do and for which station to which station works out cheapest??

Cheapest ticket advice - London to Kemble

Hi all, I have been trying to find details of Great Western/ GWR's advance tickets but am having no luck. Hoping you can help please. I want to travel from London (presumably Paddington???) to Kemble. On a weekday, off-peak. In a few weeks - no particular day. What would be the cheapest...

Cheapest ticket options - Barking to Lewes

Thanks. Which is the closest London station that the Daysave can be used from? If I decided to travel into London off peak straight into Victoria, would the Daysave allow me to board a Southern train from there (and back to London in the evening)? If I buy the Daysave online, can I pick up the...

Cheapest ticket options - Barking to Lewes

Hi all, I am travelling off peak later this week, from Barking (in Essex) to Lewes (in Sussex). While Southern advertises Advance tickets, I could not find any, so I would appreciate advice and options on routes that will reduce the cost. I do not have a Gold Card/Annual travelcard so I cannot...

Confused by cheapest ticket to Oxford on brfares site

Dear all, thanks for all the advice and tips. I now know that even on nationalrail.co.uk I should remove Gold Card and untick boxes, only leaving Advance ticked, and then the advance fares will show. Yes - both outbound and return for £5.40 are visible so I will probably go for them. Thank you!

How confusing. I think there should be a BSc in Ticketing or a MSc in Rail Services Procurement!

Confused by cheapest ticket to Oxford on brfares site

Thanks all. So it seems that brfares lists potential prices but in reality I may not secure the particular ticket due to availability. I think what you are saying is that the options are: Paddington to Oxf advance + a return advance/cdr Paddington to Oxf cdr with Gold Card discount BZ4 to Oxf...

Confused by cheapest ticket to Oxford on brfares site

Dear all, I want to travel from London Paddington to Oxford on Saturday 13 October. I checked brfares but was so confused with the variety of fares - some as low as £3.30. Does that sound correct? I need a return ticket, and I have - a Gold Card and - a Zones 2-4 Travelcard, So I added NGC...
