    RIS-3751-TOM Iss 4 - Psychometric Testing Attempts Update - 07/12/2024

I failed the 1st attempt back in 2017 (I think. It was at least 5 years ago) and sat again last week. So would I be right in thinking if I have failed this time, I would only have to wait until December next year?

GWR - Trainee Train Driver - Recruitment Discussion

I think someone mentioned further back that Swansea (and Penzance) are considered 'dead mans shoes' depots. Basically no one leaves unless they retire (or worse). As you say it could be a while before you hear anything but it could be sooner. The railway is a strange creature when it comes...

Yep unfortunately that is the railway for you. Sometimes it can be quick but most of the time it is painfully slow. Having been in it for over 10 years I've learnt that no news is good news and until they say otherwise, you're still in with a chance.

Well done on getting through to the next stage. Assuming you haven't done them and failed any part in the last 6 months or failed them twice (delete as applicable), you'll get an email requesting you to book a slot to do the tests at the OPC in Watford. It's an all day affair starting at...

GWR - Trainee Train Driver - Recruitment Discussion

I did mine in July and only heard back end of last month for assessments. It will take time as there are a lot of applicants and video interviews to work through. Two weeks is like 5 minutes in railway recruitment so just sit tight and they'll be in contact. Patience is the name of this game.

SWR - Trainee Train Driver (Talent Pool) - Various (23/09/24)

How long's a piece of string? Unfortunately railway recruitment tends to move pretty slowly. They're likely working through a backlog of applications, so the best advice is to just sit tight and wait. Have you done the online assessments? If so, then just be patient. They'll let you know...

I'm not 100% sure but work from when you got the rejection email.

Sorry to hear. Don't give up though. Opportunities will come up again. It can take a while to get in. Just to get on the railway it took me 7 years from first application to finally getting a job. Persist and you'll make it.

Unfortunately yes. There will probably be further dates but, like I said, nothing is certain.. They do take a bit of time to respond sometimes. With numerous depots being sorted through, it can take time. If you don't hear anything after a couple of weeks then try again.

I'm booked in for December for assessments. One thing I would advise (if you can) is to stay in a hotel (there's a few within walking distance) the night before. They're starting early and you don't want to be rushing to get there, finding parking, etc. the morning of the assessments.

It is possible but not guaranteed. There's usually a button saying something like "I'm not available for any of these dates". It won't withdraw your application but you could end up waiting for more dates to open up. There might well be more in the new year so don't give up.

    ARL/Overground - Trainee Train Driver - Willesden Junction (10/09/24)

I got the same. My feeling is that it's two possibilities. 1) Although I've passed to the national standard, LO is enhanced so that could be it. or 2) My psychometrics expire before the training course starts and there isn't time to organise them and do interviews, medical, etc.

I filled it in but not had any kind of response. Hopefully it went through OK.
