I'm trying to travel down to Bath from Didcot on Saturday and the GWR website shows the trains fully booked, however they say that walk-ons will be accepted.
Does this mean I can turn up and be allowed on, or will there only be a few spaces for walk-ons?
Any experiences/info really appreciated...
I've recently been looking up how to recycle different items and I thought I'd share the list with you:
hygeine, including nappies, waste: http://www.nappies2go.com/

CDs/DVDs/VHS/Audio cassettes...
The shuttle buses are mainly used by people going London-bound I think. There are lots more tourists in London than Birmingham so a reduced service would have to be ran if it were to continue, in my opinion.
I think it would be a great idea to stop in Bicester town centre but would Bicester...
There have been suggestions in the past for a Charbridge Lane overbridge but nothing more has been said.
The current route could be a big earner but the fares haven't been adjusted. Lots of Bicester Village visitors arrive at Bicester North and then take a shuttle bus to the village. After the...
Thanks Jimm for the information. I didn't realise the service was no longer subsidised.
Will EWR also be ran by Chiltern? If not, there will be great competition (perhaps resulting in lower fares) between the two companies operating Bicester-Oxford.
ANPR: Yes, probably what they'll do...
In the summer, the trains are full almost every service. If they're going to build a larger car park at St Erth, they'll need to do some work to improve capacity. They could quite easily add an extra carriage or two and extend the platforms (at least at St Ives and St Erth). The line must be a...
The car park is shared with Bicester Village, rail users have it Mon-Fri and Bicester Village at the weekends. I assume Chiltern will take full control of the car park but I don't know how they'll charge. There's nothing to stop people parking in the other nearby Bicester Village car parks and...
OK, it looks like it's a no all round then. Better just to upgrade the services we have.
I do think however building a rail terminal at Heathrow would be a good idea and make it easier to catch the train. It would also free up airspace for other flights, which would please the government...
Hi all,
I know this sort of thing will never happen but I think that a railway line pretty much following the M25 would be a good idea.
There could be links to so many railway lines, meaning people only have to change once from London to get to so many different places. It could also be...
Thank you all for your replies. Some very interesting points of view. I had been interested to see if railway could be a silent future for Britain but it seems that may never be the case.
Yes, it is certainly very interesting.
It would help a lot of people and make rail a better option to locals who may otherwise oppose the railway.
It might please a lot of HS2 opponents - though does it make that much of a difference?
Hi all,
I am just wondering if anybody has done a comparison between rail and motorway noise - how do they compare? That could be a huge way of getting people to accept rail - if it was much quieter. I see Tata Steel have a silent rail track. Do you think this will ever become affordable for...
