Portsmouth certainly has delivered. The Stagecoach buses here are always clean and tidy. Reliability is good. The council (LibDem) is very pro-active 'bus friendly'
On the Desiro Class 444/450s the water from the sink is discharged straight to the tracks. I used to empty the toilet tanks at a SWT depot. The amount of blockages caused by flushing of items such as knickers, sanitary towels, cuddly toys etc... down the toilets was incredible! That is why the...
The rail service between Cosham and Portsmouth has gone downhill in the last year. 2 trains within 14 minutes in both directions, some daytime hours the GWR no longer calls. Only 1 train to Portsmouth Harbour (for Gunwharf Quays outlet & leisure) some hours. Last train back at 21:55 from...
I live in Portsmouth. The bus service has been improved beyond recognition by the very pro-active council using BSIP money wisely. Services now run frequently from very early, 4am to past midnight on Mondays to Thursdays and until 3am on Fridays & Saturday nights. Plus there are now 2, 24-hour...
Absolutely agree. The 2 'fast' services on the Portsmouth Direct every hour, all day on Mondays to Fridays (as there was before the 'Covid' reductions) need to be re-introduced. The passenger numbers have increased considerably in the last year or so, and growth is probably being stalled by the...
Sort out the rail service at Cosham to/from Portsmouth. You have the 1Txx go down to Portsmouth Hbr at xx00, followed by the 2Exx to Portsmouth S/s at xx14. Many times if the 1Txx is more than 14 minutes late on the down it will skip Cosham! And in the other direction it's 1Txx from Portsmouth...
Apologies if this is in the wrong section, I couldn't find a First Hampshire (Solent) one.
A new service X3 is to be introduced from 27th July 2026 between Fareham and Southsea, South Parade Pier, to supplement services X4 and X5 between Fareham and Gunwharf/The Hard and service 3 between...
It goes to show the decline in driving standards of road users, something I see everyday. Ignoring signs because they believe the 'authorities' are being 'overcautious' is just one of those things.
Farlington Depot in Portsmouth is to be electrified to enable 11 vehicles for service 700 and up to a further 77 vehicles for other routes around Portsmouth, Havant, Hayling Island and Waterlooville.

I remember travelling to the local Victoria swimming baths here in Portsmouth 1981/2. The buses used were the BBK-B reg Atlanteans from Portsmouth Corporation (CPPTD) and occasionally the RTP-J reg or TBK-K reg single deck Atlanteans, with 3 to a double seat!
2tph Fast and 2tph stopper, both to Portsmouth I'd agree with. But the post showed 2tph to Portsmouth and 2tph to Haslemere. That is where I had my issue with the post.
