    EMR Class 170 updates

I know they are following rules but it is so annoying (to me anyway). I hate that cab to cab - I just feel like saying 'I'm not bloody going to leave you behind just move!'

    Sounding the horn for crossings?

I have learnt something from you there dk1 - I thought it was 3 seconds like at a whistle board. Glad to be corrected, you have made my day, the less I sound that bloody horn the better!

    ONS - Home Working Statistics

The horn! It's always the bloody horn on downloads! I think managers must count to 3 veeerrry slowly....

    Best sounding horns

Although travelling around the country (well the south anyway!) it appears no other TOCs adhere to it. It just seems to be GA where they have a bee in their bonnet about a full 3 seconds.

    Best sounding horns

Couldn't agree more. Love your description as sounding like a strangled seagull! How can such a nice train have such an awful horn? And no matter how long I sound it I always get a comment from the managers saying that from the download I'm not sounding it for the full 3 seconds.

    West Anglia Sunday 28 August

Greater Anglia are posting that: https://www.greateranglia.co.uk/travel-information/service-disruptions/cancellations-services-between-liverpool-street-bishops Can anyone shed any light on these mysterious factors?

Are timetables over-padded to avoid Delay Repay?

Although maybe less regular now what with all the ESRs on the main line

Seemingly poor breaking performance in Flirts, IETs and possibly other classes in poor rail adhesion conditions

I can vouch for all this. They can sound absolutely dreadful when all the WSP and scrubbers are working hard which can disconcert the passengers (and sometimes the driver!) but they do the business well. Another bonus on the Stadlers if sliding is the ability to stick in the emergency brake and...

Weather disruption Sunday 17th July and following few days

Damn thing. If it swings it breaks and if it doesn't swing someone sails into it!

    Railway Industrial Disputes Mk2

Harsh but very true. I do wonder about the passengers though (even if I don't mention it!) If a rural is cancelled I think how many will sit at the station for another hour, quietly seething, waiting for the next train and how many are able to make alternative arrangements.

Greater Anglia Bombardier Aventras (Class 720): Technical discussion and introduction

Any particular reason for the 720s to venture as far as Norwich?

Greater Anglia June 2022 strike timetable

Most of the driver managers would likely of been ASLEF members when drivers but when making the move to the managerial grade they leave ASLEF.

Greater Anglia June 2022 strike timetable

Most, if not all trains on that day will be driven by driver managers.

    In-cab bugbears

No - they are doing it to prevent glare when they are watching ****e on their tablet!

    In-cab bugbears

Guards who lower every single sunblind in the cab so every window is fully obscured. When we change ends the cab is in darkness. It obviously doesn't take long to raise them all again but it winds me up. It may make their Netflix viewing easier but are they expecting me to drive the train like...
