Having lived in that area for quite a few years, that's definitely the case. Not especially surprised about the D7 - even pre-Covid, outside of peak times it was often carrying a lot of fresh air.

I use it a few times a week and unless things are disrupted, I see most services appear on screen an average at least 15-20 minutes before departure. It's definitely nowhere near as bad as it was back when there was all the fuss over it.

TBH the improvement at Euston that would have the biggest impact is sorting out the Underground station. The actual main concourse isn't so bad now that they've cleared most of the clutter and (mostly) stopped waiting til the last moment to announce platform allocations.

Once they're not competing with each other, it would be sensible (and thus definitely won't happen) for longer distance travellers to be encouraged to use the Intercity services rather than piling onto the local commuter trains and crowding out the passengers from stations where there isn't the...

I couldn't see it on there, but have any decisions been made around what will happen at Bow Brickhill with the level crossing? It's a busy road but I'm not entirely sure what the plan would be to replace it, given they now seem to be building houses/offices next to the roundabout by Caldecotte...

A friend is supposed to be travelling from Reading to Cardiff tomorrow and is very worried about this. Are there any alternative routes he could try? National Rail Enquiries journey planner is extremely unhelpful as it just lists all the cancelled services.

That would seem odd for northbound, as Northampton is several stops after, and isn't usually served by the InterCity routes.

Even in a direct taxi some of the timings are extremely ambitious.

There's a few other theme parks that have local buses running into the grounds. The bus stop at Chessington World of Adventures where TfL's 71 starts/terminates looks to be on park property. Similarly D&G operate services into Alton Towers.

As a regular user of the LNR services out of Euston, that was my reaction too - usually if you're there around 20 minutes before departure you're able to get a seat towards the front of the train. Pretty much the only times the train fills up instantly is when it's short-formed.

But how many people are actually taking "very large quantities" of hold luggage? Most will have one large hold case and a hand luggage case, which is hardly unreasonable. It feels on these forums like anyone who dares bring more than a handbag with them is deemed to be causing a massive...
