    195s on the Cumbrian Coast

They have had a couple of runs up the coast but not in service. When the ground collapsed the other side of Barrow a few years ago they took a set or 2 via Carlisle up the coast for swaps. I believe it's the Maryport-Carlisle section that has the most issues/potential issues.

Derailment near Grange Over Sands (22/03/24)

From https://www.facebook.com/share/p/dNmFCxXKFVfkG9ny/ Screenshot of post for those not on Facebook, shows a 6 car class 195 combination paused at Workington station.

Derailment near Grange Over Sands (22/03/24)

I believe one has made it to at least Workington before now, possibly even Maryport? As far as I'm aware it's Bullgill near Aspatria that's the problem? Probably more issues further up too.

Derailment near Grange Over Sands (22/03/24)

I suspect Derwent Bridge has reopened? Ive just heard a 68 pass the line near Workington Station, a look on RTT shows: https://www.realtimetrains.co.uk/service/gb-nr:H08519/2024-03-23/detailed 15 minutes ago And then https://www.realtimetrains.co.uk/service/gb-nr:H08485/2024-03-23/detailed...

    Workington derailment 12/04/2023

One has run at least as far as Workington in the past, possibly Maryport? Not in service though anyway. I believe they couldn't go any further north at the time as the line between Maryport and Carlisle is quite restrictive

    Newbury & District

Newbury Buses as was, used to run both the 6 and 9 to Harwell and Didcot 15 years ago. I grew up in Newbury, and the points made here are generally right. There just isn't the links between Newbury and Oxford/Southampton/Oxford that a quick 20 mins on the train to Reading can't offer. Reading...

    Avanti West Coast cancellations

All Avanti services on Saturday cancelled. Seems to be the only page on the website to explicitly say that though, so far.

    Avanti West Coast cancellations

Real Time Trains website currently showing no Avanti services at all on Saturday from Euston. Is this correct or is the timetable being uploaded today?

    London to Penrith - 13/8/22

True! Thank you though. Many thanks for the detailed answer and information on the various allowed routes, very interesting. I'll keep an eye out for the timetables to be confirmed, if needs be I can drive down towards Oxenholme/Lancaster/Preston if it improves the certainty of actually being...

    London to Penrith - 13/8/22

Yeah, I thought there were risks with TPE too. I'd have to just live in the hope at least one of them might make it further north than Preston . I've had a dive into the routing guide, would I be correct to think that Penrith falls under the Oxenholme stations routing point? And that maps...

    London to Penrith - 13/8/22

Hi all, I'm trying to work out some rough options for the strike action due to be held on the 13/8/22. I need to make a return leg of travel from London to Penrith. During previous (RMT?) action I drove across to Darlington and caught the train from there (a genuinely pleasant experience with...

    Caledonian Sleeper

Ha, fair enough. I'm returning to Carlisle. Was a bit of a back up plan to come back the same night after a concert in Stratford instead of the original plan to stay over and come back on the Saturday. I'll wait to see what's actually running on the Saturday and decide whether to still go.

    Caledonian Sleeper

Is there much chance of the 2350 from Euston running on the 24/6/22? Setting off 10 minutes before the strike starts seems risky - though I've booked a seat on it in the hope it does.

Does anyone know why the Caledonian sleeper trains are pulled by a 66 now and not a 73?

This might be (is) a horrendously stupid question, but is it not possible to modify the Class 67 bogies? Either re-bogie to make them CoCo or more lightweight? Granted making the bogies themselves more lightweight probably wouldn't do much in the grand scheme of things. Or is it just the weight...
