I'll think about it ..... Edit: BTW, have you listened to the podcast? And no, I had nothing to do with it.

Having listened to the podcast ... words fail me.

    Channel Tunnel Problem

Thought I should post an update: still no reply from either Eurostar or Eurotunnel regarding the design risk assessment timescales for the release of trapped passengers, there seems to be a communication problem ... Just thought I'd add this link here...

    Channel Tunnel Problem

A Happy New Year to all I'm pleased that you recognise my persistence. Regarding "entrapment" and "survivability", which alternative words would you prefer? Which part of providing additional recovery locomotives is neither feasible, sensible or imports risk? And how is my statement regarding...

    Channel Tunnel Problem

My first response disappeared in to the ether, so trying again with some redundancy in place ... Survivability is an important of the design process and a key part of the design risk assessment Several accounts on the media regarding "don't breathe too deeply". If the accounts of fainting are...

Seasons greetings to all readers, apologies for not responding over Christmas period, other duties required my attention. I have clearly lost the initiative with this thread but shall attempt to recover .. albeit perhaps in strategy rather than detail Really? So which part of providing...

    Channel Tunnel Problem

I regard survivability as an important part of the design process, I'm surprised you don't; as I am sure you are aware(?), UK legislation requires designers to consider risk, one aspect of which is survivability, hence the current focus on protected cores for elderly tower blocks in the UK and...

    Channel Tunnel Problem

Thanks for the technical insight, there is clearly relevant information that is not in the public domain. Unless the cooling circuit ducts have a common inlet point for all motors on each half-set, it's difficult to envisage a scenario where all motors are functioning correctly 10 minutes...

2 VCBs, one for traction circuit and one for auxiliary (which would include life safety). Alternative is 2 VCBs one for traction and aux (as current) and one for life safety. Life safety VCB is out during normal operation. Life safety lighting load could be low, life safety ventilation could...

    Channel Tunnel Problem

Is there something to hide? I wonder if an FOI request might work, public organisation etc? Edit: Oooh, FOI applies to Network Rail ... this could be interesting.

    Channel Tunnel Problem

Actually, there's an easy VE solution here: retain one pantograph, but design traction motor protection to protect the traction motor, not life safety circuits. Feel free to critique, I'm positive you will. BTW, I'm sure your white coat and Al Qaeda comment cannot possibly be your best shot...
