CAF class 197 Civity for TfW: News and updates on introduction.

Just seen 2x 2 car 197s being dragged through Droitwich on 5Q94 Donnington Rft - Long Marston. No numbers on either unit, but pretty sure they has UT38 and UT41 displayed in the window. Any idea what they were, and why they were heading to Long Marston? Presume they do some preparation of them...

    Non-Urgent TOPS Requests

Can anyone help identify the 196 I just passed near King's Norton heading south. Believe it's 5V00 New Street - Worcester. Thank you

WMR Class 196 Build and Implementation

The morning services on that diagram can probably cope as a 2 car service. Certainly the one in to Birmingham via Camp Hill can, and its previous working in arriving just after 7 can too. Not sure about the workings southbound tho, or later in the day

WMR Class 196 Build and Implementation

On its own? It was 196012 + 196003 on Tuesday. Works in as the service from Malvern via the Camp Hill

Class 810 for East Midlands Railway Construction/Introduction Updates

Regarding the work at Etches Park, GRIP 6 means construction stage, so I would deem that to mean construction on site completed, although completion of handover and compilation of as built drawings not necessarily required to be completed by that date.

    Oldest livery still in service?

The class 325 fleet, built around 1995/96 in Royal Mail livery

    Favourite individual trains

166207 from when I had that a few times in the early 90's up the Lickey to Birmingham New Street. Not sure why 166s used to turn up on one of the morning services, or whether I was in fact dreaming it, but I'm sure I also had 166205 on one occasion. 221122 (Doctor Who). I'm not a Doctor Who...

WMR Class 196 Build and Implementation

The diagram from Hereford that arrives at New Street just after 9 then goes empty to Tyseley was cancelled this morning. 08.50 New Street - Hereford was a 3 car 172 rather than the usual pair of 196s

WMR Class 196 Build and Implementation

you've been lucky then. I've known the diagram the 196s initially took over on the Worcester route to be a 2 car 172 at times - I wouldn't say regularly, but it certainly happened a few times. To be fair, the morning services it works into Birmingham cope as a 2 car (although they seem to slowly...

WMR Class 196 Build and Implementation

196007 & 196008 on the Worcester - New Street diagrams today. First time I'd seen those two in service on the route

Trivia: Services that you find interesting for one reason or another

I remember in the early 2000s the late service from Birmingham New Street to Bromsgrove being a Wales and Borders 158 (destination Cardiff Central), which made a change from the usual Central Trains units. I'm sure I remember in the early 90s an early morning working from Worcester - New Street...

Trivia: Areas that a class 158 have never been on.

I would imagine they have worked most routes around the west midlands, but I would be surprised if they worked the Redditch branch. I'm sure I remember 150s working the Redditch branch while the southern part of Cross City was being electrified and 1st generation diesels were on the way out, or...

WMR Class 196 Build and Implementation

196006 and 196004 came to a sudden stop at the top of the Lickey this morning on the early working (06.33 from Droitwich). Got moving again after a 5-10 min delay. 196004 now partnered with 196001 for 17.50 New Street - Worcester Shrub Hill
