TransPennine Express checking the appetite for charging for seat reservations?

I hate seat reservations. I once boarded a 3 car 185 at Piccadilly and almost every single seat on the train was reserved. I did take one of the unoccupied reserved seats after the train had departed. I thought, well that's not great. I have had reserved seats myself on long distance. I ended...

Northern Unit Refurbishments and depot allocations.

I didn't even realise 150204 had left NL. What 150/2s are left at NL?

Loss of Signalling - Various Across Yorkshire 11/7/26

Except, Sheffield and Rotherham areas are under York ROC, iirc. The middle bit of the Hallam line is, as you say, locally controlled.

[Trivia] stations where two lines converge on a single station and then both branch off eachother towards different directions.

When I read it, I took it to mean two different routes/set of tracks that never meet or cross over in the station. So if you come in on Route A you stop at the Route A dedicated platform and then exit the station still on Route A. Route B enters the station on a different platform and exits...

When are the 150s getting this?

Why do new/ modern rail trains seem to have cab doors that don’t slide.

First gen DMUs had sliding doors separating the saloon from the cab. As you say though, I can't think of any modern trains that have these.

Are they swapping them all, or just some?

Saddest Sights on the Railways (Trivia)

The derelict buildings on the disused platform at Dinting are a sad sight. Penistone isn't much better. A lone single track running through what was once a busy junction.

Usage of American English words on the British railway network

Maybe it is regional. I'm in Yorkshire. I hear train station more too.

Usage of American English words on the British railway network

I'm not pedantic at all. I'm the total opposite. I'm one of those who likes the jist/the general overview. I like to see the wood, not bothered what kind of trees they are. :) Quite happy to mix and match word spellings and play loose and fast with the rules of grammar. Language evolves, or it...

Usage of American English words on the British railway network

British English is just so inconsistent. It's just the way it is.
