Just an update on this, I replied with my side of the story and today received a Fixed Penalty Notice for £80.00 plus the cost of a ticket. If I understand this correctly, if I pay this amount within 14 days, the matter is dropped and it will not proceed to court? Just want to confirm!

I hope so too, at least then they can see that I've been purchasing them for the past 5 years or so!

Is that something that they can check to see? My history of past purchases linked to my ID card?

Thanks for clarifying that, I was just looking into it. I guess I'm just concerned about a criminal record, I admit my mistake and I'm more than willing to pay whatever fine is needed. How likely is it that this will go straight to court?
