If you're happy to, on the way back you can travel from Glasgow to Edinburgh (£4 Megabus, or £13 train) and then Megatrain from Edinburgh to Birmingham is £13. On the way there, unfortunately, the £13 Megatrain departs very early. The Megatrain services are actually seats on a Virgin train, too :)
