Ah ok, thanks, I get it. It just seems odd that the prices for certain trains are given as the any permitted price, whereas for other trains they're quoted as the cost of a single plus weekend 1st upgrade.
Interesting. On the VTWC website, both the standard and 1st class off peak returns seem to be sold as two off peak singles, with the ticket restrictions saying travel must be on the date specified (regardless of class of travel).
It also doesn't explain why the off peak first class tickets...
Just looking at Euston to Stafford return on Sunday 21 May.
The price for an off-peak standard one way is £31.70.
The price for an off-peak first one way is variously listed as £51.70 (correct, because it's the standard price plus a £20 weekend first upgrade) and £98 (surely incorrect)...
Thank you, and that's what I'd planned to do if challenged. To make things more complicated, their website clearly says that although everything is owned by GTR, you still can't use Thameslink-only tickets on Southern or vice. So confusing!
Forgive me if this is a daft question, but are the xx:42 LBG - BTN trains at weekends operated by Thameslink or Southern? Both realtime trains and trainline say it's a Thameslink service, so I bought and used a Thameslink only ticket. However, the automatic gates at LBG wouldn't let me through...
Interesting, thank you! There were definitely passengers on board, and quite a lot got off, though a few stood in the doorways looking puzzled, and left on the service. The departures screens at Stoke were originally (at about 16:00) showing "Additional service to London Euston" but that then...
Waiting on P1 for the 16:12 to Euston, when the departures screens changed to "next train not for public use." A pendolino arrived from the south, stopped at P1 and dropped its pan. Most but not all passengers got off, and three VT staff loaded lots of water and fruit at the first class end...
I've had exactly this issue in central London. Was in a church when somebody collapsed. The 999 operator kept insisting they needed a full postcode, even though I'd given the name of the church, the road it was on, the side street immediately adjacent, and a partial postcode. Ditto when I called...
Many thanks for your comprehensive reply, Daniel. That's interesting.
I was just intrigued because the driver sounded a bit surprised over the PA, saying something to effect of "We're now going via CHX; if you need stations to Bank then please alight at Waterloo and go back to Kennington."...
Standing on Platform 1 at Kennington on Sunday, I was surprised to see a "via Bank" train pull in. Not far into the tunnel, the driver made an announcement to say we'd been sent via Charing X without warning, and that those wanting Bank should return to Kennington. It caused no problem at all -...
I question whether there's a member of gateline staff at StP who is misinformed about ticket validity to Elephant. I had a similar situation some months ago, but was not stopped as the journey was only one way:

Do you mean 'upgrade' or do you simply want to change the time?
My PA has changed my advance tickets before when meetings have been rescheduled. From memory you just need to log in to East Coast, go to My Bookings and amend the ticket there. It's a £10 admin fee plus any difference in fare...
We are aware of an issue with emails from the Forum to Microsoft-based email accounts (hotmail/outlook/live.com email addresses). This is being looked into currently, thanks for your patience meanwhile.
