Why would the new fleet be different door spacing... With London Underground tube trains are normally bespoke for the line it had been ordered for due to many other factors like the size of the bore, curvatures etc. So it would be design to fit the exist platform as well.

May be idea to switch to GSM-R at same time. Less problems with beacons.

Did a Waterloo to Paris in 1996 about a month or so after the fire and it took 5hrs. Post HS1 did St Pancras to Disneyland (again after the fire of 2008) and it took 4hrs 30 going and about 4hr15 back… but that was due to the fire in the tunnel

Better manage it I’d there was a extra driver at Pier to jump in and get it ready… like Waterloo & City used to be.
