    Kings Cross Platform Rules

Had the same stupidity at Blackpool once. Everyone held behind gates until a couple of minutes before the train is due to depart then, when finally released onto the platform, there's a mass stampede. Needless to say, never went there by train again. Surely the sensible approach would be to let...

Strange high pitch noise some high speed trains make

I never really noticed the whining sound until I travelled on 225s but I have since noticed it on Eurostars, HSTs and Azumas. Seems to be present at speeds over 100mph.

Storm Amy Travel Disruption (03/10 onwards)

Yep, though everything was cancelled prior to the very last connecting train to Leeds, which was late. Can do without that kind of stress. Then there's no telling how trains to and from London will manage. We have a cat at home so we can't risk not making it home later.

Storm Amy Travel Disruption (03/10 onwards)

Judging by the situation on the Airedale Line I made the right decision to postpone my London trip!

Storm Amy Travel Disruption (03/10 onwards)

Following on from my questions earlier... We've recheduled tomorrow's Leeds-London outing to the 18th. We'd paid the extra fee to be able to cancel or change the train tickets and the theatre in London kindly agreed to let us reschedule, depsite us being past the point at which this is usually...

Storm Amy Travel Disruption (03/10 onwards)

As much as anything it's to curb my other half's anxiety. She's currently googling to see what wind speed trees are uprooted at!

Storm Amy Travel Disruption (03/10 onwards)

Yes, aware that Northern Ireland, North West England and Scotland are getting the worse of it, but wondered what sort of issue 40mph winds can cause and also if LNER trains to Edinburgh are affected could that cause trains further south to be disrupted?

Storm Amy Travel Disruption (03/10 onwards)

I've had a trip on Saturday 4 October booked for a while... Leeds-London, arriving 12:00 Lunch in London booked for 12:30 Theatre booked for 14:30 London-Leeds train, departing 19:00 Forecast wind speeds: Leeds - 50mph Grantham - 40mph Peterboroough - 40mph I've no idea what the implications...

Unreserved seating with a reserved seat ticket.

I guess it depends what type of ticket you have. When I've had the credit card sized tickets there's one for the journey and another for your reservation, so they'd have no way of knowing you had a reserved seat unless you showed them the reservation ticket as well as the journey ticket.

    Tree down on airedale line

The units trapped at various places between Shipley and Skipton have all gained 5xxx headcodes in the last few minutes, so hopefully some movement will take place soon. 1725611034 Unit that was on P1 at Keighley now heading towards Skipton as 5S02.

    Tree down on airedale line

I was nosying at the webcams to watch the WCR railtour go through and realised it hadn't got past Skipton on its way back to York from Carlisle. Had a look on RTT and everything was cancelled from about 16:30 and still is. The WCR must have resersed at Skipton and gone a different way to York as...

    Why is CrossCountry so overpriced?

I guess they're not overpriced if the trains are overcrowded despite the prices being a rip-off. XC's prices between Leeds and the West Country really are abhorrent though. When my brother and I took my mum to Cornwall for her 80th birthday in June last year it cost almost £500 for the three...

ECML South disruption - OLE down 09/12

I see 1D26 eventually terminated at Leeds. How does anyone wanting Keighley or Skipton get home at 2:19am? It would have been much simpler for the passengers if the train had continued to its destination, but I guess the railway is run for the convenience of the railway and the passengers are...

Aslef strikes and OT ban called…

That's my whole team at work shafted on 8 December for our Christmas meal out. I'd already started driving to work because I was fed up of Northern's lousy way of dealing with issues that cause disruption after paying £7.50 for the privilege of a journey I can make on £4.50 of petrol in half the...

Disastrous afternoon on the Airedale line this afternoon - 09 August

The conductor appeared to be waiting to board the train at Skipton as per usual. I always board this train at the back as it affords me the fastest exit onto Park Road at Bingley when I alight. The conductor change always takes place at the back of the train too so I’m used to seeing them.
