Depot to Mainline only in the future?

No. It’s a full drivers licence. You do a mainline conversion course which is essentially a rules refresh and then handling hours with route learning. 1787585764 Your absolutely right it’s a full drivers licence and the course is exactly the same as mainline, you just get through it quicker at...

Depot to Mainline only in the future?

GWR slightly different in that you don’t have to go depot first it’s a choice at application stage as they are advertised seperately. Also GWR depot drivers are guaranteed the next available mainline vacancy at their depot after completing 2 years service, no need to apply to move on.

Tips for a new trainee driver

The course is set up so that candidates who have reached the point of being offered a course can go from having no knowledge of trains to be able to drive trains safely, so no real tips to give as far as the course is concerned. But you must be prepared to make good notes, engage with the...

GWR - Train Manager / Conductor Recruitment and Discussion

You get a schedule about two weeks before you start, certainly for the classroom side of it which will be Monday to Friday. There’s a little bit of shift work in it aswell where you will be “shadowing” a qualified TM out and about for a few weeks There’s a bit more flexibility when it comes to...

GWR Drivers from Exeter - Advice please

if I can give you one piece of advice at this stage it would be try and forget about it and carry on with your normal life, people sit in pools for weeks or sometimes years before they get the call and there is absolutely no way of predicting who will or won’t get the call first. Congratulations...

GWR Drivers from Exeter - Advice please

I don’t think anyone would be able to answer that with any certainty at all except recruitment. I am aware of a few people who are waiting.

    Sunday working

Certainly from a GWR point of view there are lots of rumours but absolutely nothing concrete, I would imagine all other TOCs are the same so I don’t believe you will get an answer here.

GWR - Trainee Train Driver - Exeter (12/05/23)

Some internal candidates have been knocked back after the online video interview process and some have been called forward to take the psychometrics. It’s gone no further than that yet.

    GWR train manager salary

It’s about £38500 basic per annum, additional money for working booked Sundays will take it up to about £42000. I’m unaware if there is any additional payment for being in London.

GWR - Trainee Train Driver - Exeter (12/05/23)

No I was unsuccessful. I currently work for a TOC and lots of us were knocked back within 24 hrs of each other recently so I would suggest no news is good news.

GWR - Trainee Train Driver - Exeter (12/05/23)

Yes, quite a quick reply but I wasn’t expecting in depth analysis really as it was still quite early stages of the recruitment process.

Having watched back my video submissions I have come to the conclusion that my face is better suited to radio!

    TM Psychometrics

GWR conductor/TM is valid for 3 years. 1676400232 Also for GWR when you apply you can enter when, where and who you did previous psychometrics with and then they check with the OPC so assuming they use the same tests as Avanti/EMR this should mean you won’t have to do them again.

GWR Train Manager Interview help !!

I think if people were to give you specific questions they had then personally I think it would be counterproductive as you would focus on that when the reality is your questions are likely to be worded differently! What I would say is have plenty of examples of when you’ve worked alone, as...

    Rules Exam

I think from your previous posts you’re a conductor? So your rules won’t be exams as such all though you will have a short written paper on making an emergency call and one other I can’t remember. The rest of your “rules” as such will be done by your guard manager and they will be looking for...
