Welshpool were steam but with a following diesel water unit following last weekend.
It partly depends on the lengths of the signallers' shifts, and since many are 12 hour then working that extra hour can and does cause all sorts of problems, which is why it gets refused. I did it once and still the line had to close. The one occasion I did do it NR paid for a hotel room for me...
Can you explain how you expect staff on the ground, be they drivers, guards or signallers, to sort this out without consultation with management?

Yes I think TfW have brought Sundays into the working week for drivers and guards, but don't know about their signalling staff at Taffs Well.
If someone is only contracted to work Monday to Saturday, as many drivers, guards and signallers are, why do you expect them to work on their day off?
