    Class 91

I have recently moved house and my house backs on to the ECML at Hatfield. I have seen 91106 Swallow, 91110 Battle of Britain, 91111 For the Fallen and 91130 Lord Mayor of Newcastle. Which others are operational? Where is number 5 and 19?

    XC Voyager Refurbishment

I can’t see the point rolling out the new XC livery when they will become GBR in a matter of months. We are likely to get 2 or 3 units in XC and the rest in GBR livery.

Should we be building new railways?

My issues with train travel which prevents me from using it as opposed to my car are that there are no direct east-west links which therefore means for me travelling from my home in Hertfordshire to my parents in the West Midlands a train into Kings Cross, a tube to Euston, train to Birmingham...

    Livery under Great British Railways

I have seen a mock up of an 800 in metallic BR blue and grey (silver) with the VTEC style ”Red diagonal flash” when they took over East Coast at one coach end with the BR logo in white in the red flash. Retro but looked quite good in my option and would work on most stock.

Great Northern Fleet - 379s introduction

In my opinion, this is the problem with the privatised railway where every new contract wanted shiny new trains to show off instead of using decent existing trains. We have seen brand new trains go off lease and sitting around in the name of private company image!

    Livery under Great British Railways

So what happens under nationalisation? People will be looking for the GBR coloured to but an CrossCountry coloured one turns up because it was only painted a year ago. Or what about those waiting elsewhere waiting for a GBR service and a Thameslink train appears because it hasn’t been painted yet?

    Livery under Great British Railways

It may have already been said but why are CrossCountry being allowed to paint their refurbished trains in their new livery when in 2 years time it will be disbanded. Surely a missed opportunity ?

Great Northern Fleet - 379s introduction

In this fortnight’s Rail it says all 379s are now on lease. Early morning and evening Letchworths will see them first then they will release 387s which can run dual voltage services. The exGWR 387s are staying on GN. (Rail 1023 November 27th P19)

    TOC contract expiry dates

Has anything been revealed yet about the structure of the passenger railway under GBR? Will it continue as fragmented companies as they are now under one management and be called “LNER a GBR Company” etc or will they all become “GBR” in name and retain the franchise structure or will there be...

    "City Beam"

What is the point? People won’t travel on them any more than if they were called Desiro City! Can you imagine it? ”oh let’s ditch the car and go on the train because it’s now called a Citybeam”. It’s like buying a new BMW and calling it a trifle! ”come on kids get in the nice new trifle” “oh...
