    Great Western Electrification Progress

And yet I believe grand central want to run peak trains fro. Cardiff to london next year. And whilst the competition is badly needed, you have to ask if there is the capacity to run an additional high speed service from wales to london. Aparently this will be done using Mlk4 coaching stock &...

Word on the street is that the orr signed off the Cardiff - bristol section for traffic. This includes the Severn tunnel btw.

Presumably as the feed extends to the Canton depot, they should be able to run on a/c from there. But only time will tell

Whe it comes to the bridge at Lawrence hill, would it not be easier, cheaper & ultimately quicker to lower the track? As ultimately it takes up to a year to remove and raise a bridge to the required height for powered cables. Mind you, as they have done in london and cardiff, they could always...

    Great Western Electrification Progress

Hmmm? I know there's a greater distance involved here. But If it is going to take several months to test and certify the wires from Bristol parkway to Newport. How come it's going to take barely 2 weeks to certify the section from cardiff to Newport ? Surely it would be logical to get the...

Any idea as to when the Newport - Bristol section is likely to be signed off for traffic?

Who knows? But the line from Newport to london is already live and undergoing testing this weekend, and should be cleared for traffic long before Cardiff to Newport & london early next year

. They are wiring more of Cardiff central this weekend, with a view to St Brides to cardiff being energised at Christmas. Between severn tunnel station & newport, they are continuing the what I believe to be around 800 hrs of testing before being signed off for traffic. Naturally if anyone can...

    Great Western Electrification Progress

Whilst there is every chance of Newport to Bristol parkway being live for passenger service in december. Cardiff to Newport will most likely not be signed off for traffic until the new year. This is because wiring through Cardiff central is still not complete ( aparently that is due to be done...
