Ahh...the £7 figure was because I'd accidentally inputted Victoria Underground Station rather than the National Rail station into the fare finder. The off-peak fare would actually be £5.50.

The £7 figure is what the TfL fare finder says is the off-peak railcard fare for a journey from Victoria to Gatwick (not taking into account a travelcard which covers part of the journey).
I’m trying to work out how much my Oyster will be charged when I make an off-peak journey on Southern/Thameslink from Victoria to Gatwick. I have a zone 1-3 travelcard on my Oyster, as well as a railcard loaded onto it, which normally gets a third off off-peak fares.

I made a journey from Heathrow T1/2/3 to a zone 3 station on the tube earlier today. I have a zones 1-3 travel card, so I was rightly charged a peak extension fare of £2.40 to cover the portion of the journey between zone 6 and zone 4.
