So it's happening for sure then? It'll be interesting to see what the route map looks like when it comes out. I'm trying to figure out how they'll even make it work.
Is this new circular 43 going to be partially looped, or is the entire route going to be one huge loop? I don't see how you can make the latter work unless you have buses running in both directions.
So if this is indeed the case, 73 would go back to terminating at either the City Centre or Temple Meads, essentially becoming the X72. That does make sense. I wonder why though they made this decision. Perhaps to make it complementary to the 16?
So, how is this rumored 73 and 45 merger going to work? If the section from the City Centre to UWE Frenchay is gone, what will replace it? I'm curious to know why this change is taking place. Is a new service going to be introduced? Is it something to do with the 43 becoming circular? What will...
The old 50/51 were probably candidates for the worst buses in Bristol. Eventually, they stopped going into the city centre altogether because they tended to get stuck when looping around town. The 51 almost got canned entirely. Sometimes, neither showed up for over an hour or, in some cases...
But wouldn't ending cross-city services cut off South Bristol from other parts of the city? That part of the city would then have no direct bus to places like Cribbs Causeway. It's really inconvenient and tedious needing to catch two buses, and for some people, it would also be more expensive...
From my observations, overcrowding is not uncommon between Gloucester Road and UWE during peak times. Overcrowding can also sometimes still happen on the Wells Road.
True, but 1) The 73 route is more direct than either of them and 2) The 73 is now the main route that connects Temple Meads with Gloucester Road and Lockleaze. Of course, the 73 could just replace that section of the 72 entirely. For instance, an extension of the 6 or 7 (or another route) along...
No, but I did send a copy to one of the ward councilors who told me they hoped the 73 becoming cross-city would lead to a frequency increase, but I think I'll get in touch with WECA, too now that you mention it.
I wrote to First proposing that the frequency of the 73 be brought closer to that of the 74, 75, and 76. I argue that the service has high demand around Temple Meads and UWE Frenchay. I also point out that because Whitchurch and Hengrove have high car ownership, they have a higher potential...
