Last year they had a minibus doing runs from Cathcart which stopped at the usual stations into Glasgow. Not sure what alternatives they had further afield, but I'm surprised nothing has been put on.
An update from my post in late April following my return Air China trip from Hangzhou to Glasgow via Beijing and Frankfurt.
Sadly the first leg which was originally set to be a C919 was changed to an A321 a few days before. I guess this was down to increased demand from the labour holiday so...
I'd agree to the 2+2 seating. I find that most people prefer to stand over sitting in the middle seat, and it makes it really difficult to get out when people are standing in the aisle with how narrow it is.
Flew to Beijing the other day from Glasgow via Heathrow. I booked these as separate tickets as the prices from Edinburgh/ Glasgow via Frankfurt were astronomical!
Bit of a nothing flight, nice to get water and crisps but is a far cry from the cooked meals you got 10 years ago. What surprised me...
I enjoy the HSTs at ScotRail but feel like they could've been so much better. No buffet car in operation, little service in first class, standard class feels so gloomy and the constant squeaks and clunks don't make for the most peaceful journey. Great units but way past their time.
The ramp is pretty handy leaving Platform 11 and others in that area. You're straight off the platform and directed onto the ramp so you're not really dealing with oncoming foot traffic.
Pretty sure the wooden ramp halfway down goes over a full width barrier that rises from the ground. Not sure...
Brilliant news, will make it much easier to get into work for me, although a silver lining out of this is that I've discovered how good the Voi bike share scheme is!
Hopefully we'll eventually see hourly services between Perth and Inverness which would alleviate that. (Thought that was planned at some point soon anyway? I'd imagine not at the moment given current HST availability.)
I grabbed a couple of photos during my lunch break today. As another poster said, it's just the Blue Lagoon level to go. Hopefully this means it won't be long until the remainder of the station can open.
That's what I had in mind too. Stranraer had 30k entries/ exits last year Vs Girvan at 61k.
Girvan and Stranraer are 30 miles apart so it's not exactly nearby, but only Barrhill separates them.
I'd imagine the units stuck inside the station will need some ventilation before going back into service. Briefly popped into my office this morning to pick up some equipment and there was a strong smell of smoke inside, despite it being on the opposite side of the station.
