    SWR Guard assessment

Did you get sent a pack in the post giving you examples of the tests, I passed it and was offered the job after a subsequent interview but then declined as I had been offered a signallers job. Basically there will be tests such as Situational Judgement, Maths, another a bit like group bourdon...

    A career as a signaller

Everything in this business takes ages, I applied for a position in May last year, got the job in July, just passed signal school last week.

    A career as a signaller

Don't be concerned about the apprentice part of this, I'm currently about to start week 7 of signal school, also I can't find my certificates (1980) so they just ask you to do some tests while at signal school, they tell you it's not a pass or fail, they are just gauging your abilities. If you...

    A career as a signaller

I had my medical in August, started on 30th October, it took 3 weeks for the urine test to come through. You will find that your start date will be based around when there is a place available for signal school as you usually start a week before you start school.

SWR Trainee Drivers at Staines, Woking and Waterloo

I have had an application open since December 2016 when it was SWT, I contacted them in August when SWR took over and was told I am still in the frame. I have since started as a signaller so told them I could not do anything until february when my training finishes which they seemed to be fine...

    A career as a signaller

Sorry for the late reply, it looks like most of your questions have been answered now, I will try and answer your other questions later on but have to go out now.

    A career as a signaller

You can only do the online tests once, I believe they last for 6 months and will be what you have to live with for any application. You can apply for as many jobs as you want and any grade available. I applied for 10, had interviews for 4 and got a grade 3, but did have an interview for a grade...

Why do people want to become signallers?

My motivation is that I was made redundant after 30 years service in Flight Operations for a major airline, I see signalling as being quite similar to flight planning as both have routes and safety is a strong factor in day to day running. I enjoy a challenge and the pressure that they both...

    A career as a signaller

I had an interview after already being offered another position, I had applied for about 10 different locations altogether so it doesn't seem to be a problem. If you apply for a high grade position, ie grade 7,8,9 you will be up against other signallers from lower grades also applying even...

SWR Trainee Drivers at Staines, Woking and Waterloo

Just for info I applied in December 2016 for Staines, never heard anything until August where apparently I am in line for an assessment but still no date yet. TBH I'm not too bothered now as I have secured a good position as a signaller and will be away training for 3 months so I probably won't...

I notice there isn't a closing date listed, it's normally a couple of days after the listing.
