    Running between stations: good pairs

That's a hard one. There's a few you can do on the Tube but racing a train would be a different beast. I was thinking short sprints but also some longer ones where trains have to take a more roundabout way but can't think of any of the latter. Deansgate-Manchester Oxford Road Manchester Oxford...

    Preston Bus

44/48 are tendered as one route. Nailed on. The only concern is that incidentally the bus shelter on Blackpool Road is such a honey pot that they'd have to do a double loop to hit it. You'd imagine Stagecoach would want to hit the estates Preston Bus pulled out of too. Preston Bus have an...

    Preston Bus

It doesn't even feel like they're trying to compete, just disrupt. There's quick wins they can achieve such as a competitive Blackpool or Lancaster service but instead focused on more niche routes such as a failed extension to Bamber Bridge. Stagecoach feel like they're trying to compete with...

    Preston Bus

Suicidal from Preston Bus. Limit two critical commuter services to pointlessly extend the 6. Outside of niche journeys to/from the railway station and Deepdale to Grimsargh and Longridge this does nothing

    Stagecoach Cumbria and North Lancashire

111 extension isn't overly busy but has pulled passengers away from a 35 that had already switched to smaller buses. 23 extension doesn't seem to have the same effect. Probably just trial - the E10s are for Warton and Salmesbury shuttles respectively. Unless one steps into Barrow now too

    Preston Bus

The specific 35 ticket stinks of desperation, no idea how busy the 111 is but I imagine it's looking good for Stagecoach. Preston Bus could, and should, be returning to double deckers on that anyway - capacity was a serious issue before Stagecoach came along

First Rail Stirling (Lumo) Rolling Stock

Needless to say, 1S82 (Euston to Glasgow, 9 car) that's going 6 minutes before the cancelled Lumo is rammed

First Rail Stirling (Lumo) Rolling Stock

I'll be on the return London to Stirling (as far as Preston) - Avanti have had to step in to get people home

    Blackpool North Station passenger management

Fantastic staffing at Blackpool North tonight. 1818 to York canceled so the 18 37 to Liverpool has been opened early so everyone can get a seat and connect at Preston/onwards - love that! Staff have been great with it too

    British Airways

I've done one BA flight recently, JFK-LHR, and the legroom and IFE was a joke. I'm 5'6" and felt cramped, bought WiFi in the end. Edit: (JFK to Heathrow)

    Blackpool Trams News

Could the unused bay off Platform 3 not be brought in? I don't know much about it other than 'it's there' - and I heavily doubt there's any scope for the tram trains to come off the line on, say, Tom Benson Way. Realistically even if the trams were extended I don't see them getting beyond Kirkham

Staff discretion to open doors at unscheduled station stops

Was on a fast Preston-Oxford Road a few months ago. Non-stop Chorley. The train I'd actually missed that had gone first had sadly hit someone at Adlington (Lancs). Pulled into Buckshaw, stop order called, train spun, Northern funded taxis for everyone to Bolton/Manchester Edit: acronyms

    Preston Bus

Leaves only Brookfield, Sherwood, Cottam, Savick and Larches that Preston Bus have a monopoly over. Extending the 111 further to Cottam, then minor changes to the 61/68 would take that down to just the first two.

    Preston Bus

Between the desperate 23 extension and removing the fare cap things are not looking good for Preston Bus. Any other operator, Uber or even black cabs represent better value for money. To their credit though at least the 23, 35, 43 and 44 are regularly filled

Trivia: UK bus stations not fit for purpose

At the very least I'd spin more 1s at Common Garden Street, usually only done during peak times and disruption. Maybe a few select 100s during peak times as the buildup of traffic can be a real problem down that way.
