Chances are the able-bodied people blocking the wheelchair space would be able to squeeze on to the next bus or take a different route home that may require walking more. Appreciate buggies make this trickier but the point still stands that someone pushing a buggy is more likely to fit on the...
The diagram on the website suggests a more direct path from Summering Close (through the housing estate) to Kellands Lane then across the road to the station. On the other side the path is through the existing industrial estate. A couple new pedestrian crossings going in.
I don't know how good...
Car free areas can be as simple as pedestrianised high streets that exist in many places. I don't believe they're a luxury or particularly groundbreaking concept. Whether cars are present, and the difficulty of crossing those roads, directly impacts where I choose to walk and spend time. I can't...
Being partially sighted, it makes it much more difficult as I can't read labels unless up close, so rely somewhat on expecting things to be in the right places. I'm surprised more fuss hasn't been made of this obvious access issue. Perhaps the Sainsburys search functionality is in response to...
Swindon to Bristol via Melksham and Bradford-upon-Avon is a long way round. It's 20 minutes just from Bath to Trowbridge never mind then continuing to Melksham and Chippenham. The existing Chippenham-Bath services do it in 10 mins.
What Melksham needs is a frequent service that doesn't get...
Given the poor state of cycling infrastructure across the country that's not a good reason to ditch the cycle lane. Have to start somewhere. If the cycle lane is removed people will cycle on the pavement if their light is red.
Disappointing to see that, in order to give motorists what they want, we lose a pavement on one side of the crossing.
If traffic lights are green in your direction it would likely be quicker to cycle in the road than on that cycle lane too
A few points come to mind:
A curve at Georgemas to eliminate one of two reversals required to serve Thurso in each direction.
A station at Halkirk and associated parking and cycle/pedestrian access
Additional passing places to improve reliability and possibly allow an increase in service in the...
Going back to the OPs question, its very difficylt to answer without knowing:
What the least used 10% of the network actually is in practice
How much money closing 10% of the network would save
How much that money would then buy
And whether those changes would have any possibility of growing...
If this becomes popular it would put to bed the "but the plane will still fly" arguments.
When I looked at carbon offsets recently I was surprised at just how cheap they were, and the claimed offset of the smallest unit I could buy was significantly more than the stated emissions of the...
Whether intended for it or not, as I wrote previously EWR is going to become the most convenient and likely fastest route for many long distance journeys involving Bristol, Bath, Milton Keynes, Bletchley, Bedford, and Universal Studios. Not even considering Cambridge as we need to build the...
