Agreed. Not sure that there is much demand south of Woking to travel to Staines. What there is, however, is demand to travel from the South West to Heathrow. I used to drive regularly up the M3 to Heathrow. I would much rather have been able to get a train home than getting in my car. But...

It's not just Staines. Public transport into Heathrow from the South and South West is non-existent. Extending south from Heathrow through Staines to somewhere like Woking would really help.

The bay platform at Southampton Central (platform 5) is planned to reopen if and when passenger services along the Waterside Line to Hythe are restarted. The intention is to run a half-hourly shuttle service to Hythe from the bay platform. Hopefully around 2025.
