I'm looking to purchase first class sleeper tickets for my mum for Euston-Aberdeen on 11th July, returning the following night. At age 58 she doesn't qualify for any railcards, and does not wish to share a cabin, hence first class.

LO staff have been getting free travel on XC, Chiltern & ATW for about a year, via the recip card. I've been told this has now been extended to include Grand Central and Tyne & Wear Metro, but haven't seen anything official yet...

I'll only answer the first part, regarding routing on the NRE website. The season ticket calculators on both NRE and Southern show the £11.40 ticket, without the need for 'via' to be added.

A weekly ticket for £11.40 can be purchased, from New Cross Gate to Clapham Junction, and is valid via Surrey Quays (including journeys originating or terminating here).
