All cross country services suspended 23/08/26

My former, very crappy and low tier at the time (before we turned it around!) London Borough had a set of diesel generators outside the main office which would occasionally spark up for tests or when an inevitable power cut occurred due to over excited development crews digging up roads nearby...

Bridge Strike between Fenchurch Street and West Ham High Level No C2C on all lines. (24/07/26)

I'm impressed there is enough capacity on the Stratford section at that time of day to squeeze additional C2C trains in. If they could include some Stratford trains into usual weekday peak operations it would definitely help with Elizabeth line and GA connections.

Bridge Strike between Fenchurch Street and West Ham High Level No C2C on all lines. (24/07/26)

Fortunately the district line is still flowing as really didn't fancy having yet another 3 hour commute in current heat levels.

Bridge Strike between Fenchurch Street and West Ham High Level No C2C on all lines. (24/07/26)

Fair enough. I can see the dilemma as a couple of weeks back in the high temperatures they were trying to be extra hopeful and kept West Ham platform open as people experienced repeat cancellations/ delays. Today they closed the West Ham platform and posted online that all was closed for rush...

Bridge Strike between Fenchurch Street and West Ham High Level No C2C on all lines. (24/07/26)

Fully appreciate that this must be causing significant issues but c2c are usually able to provide a service short of affected areas. Does this really require a full close down?

TfL issues 69,000 penalty fares as fare evasion crackdown intensifies

Worth noting there are few barriers on the DLR and the level of evasion isn't significantly higher.

TfL issues 69,000 penalty fares as fare evasion crackdown intensifies

There are checks on my DLR commute almost every day by the passenger assistants. The occasional times people haven't tapped seems to result in a conversation but no penalty ticket or being asked to leave the train. Are they allowed to issue penalties and what is the policy regarding this course...

Delayed due to failure of Tesco daventry - coatbridge DRS service (17/12)

I was delayed leaving Glasgow due to this and then had the diversion due to the bridge strike. Three hour delay for a four and a half hour journey was not pleasant. However, was impressed by the way staff handled it and did get us back to London via Crewe, albeit at 2220 rather than 1915. If it...

    North London Line badge

Interesting. I wonder the rail capacity that would be required to take modern day freight usage of the M25. Am having difficulties visualising it.

    Eurostar Chaos: 30/12/2025.

If this is merely a power outage in the tunnel couldn't they use a diesel loco to get them through to the other side?

Right to be re-routed - West of England line changes

section 226 of the Digital Markets, Competition and Consumers Act 2024 prohibits misleading actions in relation to transactional decisions https://www.legislation.gov.uk/ukpga/2024/13/section/226 It is arguable that falsely presenting a consumers legal rights in relation to their purchased...

Chiltern barriers programmed to automatically reject disabled railcard tickets?

I have a disabled rail card due to being hard of hearing. I would me mightily furious if I were automatically denied access through gate lines due to my disabled status. Just been through Waterloo trouble free and have used Chiltern at Marylebone and in the midlands without an issue. The few...

HS2 Euston - Development, design and construction news (not speculation, please)

Cannot see why the decision cannot be made to ignore the restrictive view point lines and just build up encapsulating the British Library with platforms and lines overshooting to join HS1 and 2. I have lost track of the reasons for the height restrictions but they are relatively recent and in...

News report: At King's Cross, train details will be deleted from departure boards three minutes before they leave.

Precisely. With the DLR the absence of a displayed train is a clear indicator there is one on the platform and it is time to go full throttle sprint to catch it. No-one seems to think that for many people dashing to catch trains is part of their daily exercise regime and probably helps prevent...

Labour *Could* reinstate HS2 Northern legs after Government fails to sell off land

Not every passenger will be wanting to go eastbound from OOC as quite a few will probably be heading towards Heathrow or west London.
