Yes I was off the street! It all clicked this week, so I'm feeling a whole lot better about the process now.

Block indicators, bell codes, AHBC, AWS, TPWS, Banner repeaters, 4', 6', cess.....SPAD, Obstruction Danger...... Just home from my third week of signalling school....... It is intense....but I'm LOVING IT!!!

Stick with it - I wasn't successful on other attempts - some on lower grades!

Go for it! They never ONCE raised my age during the whole process, never raised an eyebrow - nothing. I guess as long as you have what they are looking for then I think that is what counts. Oh...and if you get knocked back, stick with it. I wasn't considered for a few that I applied for, and...

It took a while, but I think that is really down to the individual manager...

Personally speaking, there were times when I thought I had been forgotten about, as things seemed to drag on, but that said, when things happened they happened fast and efficiently..... I was a little hesitant when I went for my assessment at Eversholt Street in London as I was the oldest...

Having applied for this particular vacancy back in May of this year, and having undergone the trials, tribulations and testing required I now find myself at the age of 57 beginning a new career as a Signaller! To say I am excited is an understatement! I commence with Network Rail on the 10th...

UPDATE: Today I got 'the' call! I have been offered the position subject to passing the medical and will be going to signalling school in York sometime in October!!!!
