Think there’s only about 20 odd B9TLs left which is crazy considering how many Glasgow used to have.

I wonder if there’s any plans for new buses for Caledonia beyond the current Yutong order for Scotstoun. We’ve seen a lot of repowers and I know there are some more due but the remaining B9TLs are ageing as are the E300s with the oldest models turning 15 next year.

Unpopular opinion but Glasgow doesn’t need anymore second hand Geminis in the form of 18 year old buses.

    Class 318/320

The 320s and particularly the 318s have received heavy refurbishments in their lifetime so it’s unsurprising they are lasting so long. It will be nice to see new units on the North Clyde/Argyle Lines when the time comes, however.

I was quite surprised to see that FIG were getting Yutongs over the new ADL E400EV considering they had the demonstrator and from what I’ve heard it had pretty good reviews.

They are definitely past their best. It’ll be interesting to see if First opt for Yutong singles ADL or Wright as there will be a lot of E300s to replace throughout the network.

    First Group: General Discussion

Refurbishing the buses could easily be done similar to the repowers. Aberdeen won’t really have a use for them if First buy them considering they have survived this long without them. The hydroliners will have very little mileage as they were hardly used.

    Commonwealth Games 2026 Glasgow 23 July - 3rd August

Aberdeen’s Electroliners are reportedly being used. First will no doubt try and use their newest buses - ie the E400EVs/E200EVs/repowered Electroliners. Definitely are far smaller scale than the original games in 2014 which coincided with lots of new E400s, E200s and Streetlites.

I was a bit dubious when the E300s entered service as they seemed very flimsy compared to earlier stock like the B10BLEs and B7RLEs but they’ve been great little workhorses as you say. Some are very tired internally and could do with a refurb. I hope when the time comes to start replacing them...

Anyone have any updates on the E200EVs that have been out of service for a long time? Some more have recently went out of service in the last few months too.

First surely shouldn’t have an issue procuring low height Yutong or ADL deckers like they did in the past with the B7L East Lanc Nordics and the E400s. I’m sure they can find an electric replacement if they deem necessary.

I’m inlined to think the same. I don’t imagine buses that old will be repowered and fully refurbished inside. That version of the E400 isn’t even produced anymore.

I’d be surprised to see them repower 15 year old buses which will be even older by the time this is rolled out.

With more repowers due I’m wondering if the intention is to start replacing the E300s with deckers instead of singles as the oldest buses will be about 15 by then. It certainly would be a sensible option.

Seen rumours online that the Hydroliners have been bought by First and are to be repowered to electric. Anyone heard anything regarding this?
